The canal from Næstved to Karrebæksminde is excavated and Næstved becomes Søkøbstad. The first buildings at New Maglemølle are finished and a quay is constructed on the new canal. Raw material and coal can now be unloaded directly onto the factory site via the quay.
New Maglemølle is equipped with two paper machines to supplement Old Maglemølle's seven machines in the production of wrapping paper, bag paper, wallpaper, various coloured paper and printing paper.
Dalum Papirfabrik still has five paper machines and the factory's total production approaches 70,.000 tonnes a year.
In total, DfP employs 1,800 workers and 250 office staff.
1940
The government introduces import tariffs on raw materials and finished goods etc. plus paper rationing.
Direktoratet for Vareforsyning issues permits for the sale and supply of paper.
Maglemølle Papirfabrik produces paper and other products for ration coupons.
1941
Brown coal and peat cover more than half the factories' fuel needs.
To meet rising demand for whiteness, a new water filtration plant is built.
1942
The supply of cellulose and wood pulp becomes unreliable, resulting in regular production disruptions.
1945
Dalum Papirfabrik starts building a new power station.
Dalum Papirfabrik orders paper machine number six - and Maglemølle Papirfabrik acquires its tenth machine.
1946
The fuel situation is unstable up until 1953. When supplies are scarce, the factories are forced to use brown coal and peat instead of oil and coal.
