FSC is a certificate which can be applied for as long as the product is fully or partly derived from wood from sustainable forestry.

Certified wood comes from forests which satisfy the criteria set out in  standards for sustainable forestry, e.g. FSC.

Controlled wood comes from forests, which do not infringe on traditional rights and civil liberties, which are not subject to high preservation interests, which are not affected by genetic modification, where forestry is legal, and which do not derive from natural forests.
